1 Thessalonians 5:18 (New International Version)
18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
This means give thanks for everything...during times of trouble you should continue to be thankful for what you have been given - even the difficult circumstance itself, for it is the Lord that has put you in that situation.
